Villa in Nature - Kasos island, Greece
Villa in Nature is a contemporary residential proposal located on the island of Kasos, Greece, designed by EFTEKTON Architects. The project reinterprets the traditional architecture of the island through clean geometric volumes, natural stone walls, and white plastered surfaces, creating a timeless Mediterranean residence deeply connected to its surroundings.
Designed as an extension of an existing historic stone house, the residence carefully balances contemporary architecture with the cultural identity of Kasos. The composition follows the natural terrain, minimizing intervention while preserving the character of the landscape and existing structures.
The interior spaces are organized to maximize functionality, natural daylight, and uninterrupted views toward the Aegean Sea. Large openings, shaded outdoor living areas, and carefully oriented terraces strengthen the relationship between interior and exterior spaces, allowing the surrounding landscape to become part of everyday living.
Natural stone, white mineral plaster, timber elements, and handcrafted materials establish a refined architectural language inspired by the island's traditional settlements. Native planting, sustainable water management, and passive bioclimatic principles contribute to a comfortable and energy-efficient living environment.
